Fixed-Wing Competition Rules.

The club holds the following flying competitions:-
Two fixed-wing fly-for-fun's
One flyer-of-the-year
Two rotary-wing fly-for-fun's

Points are awarded as:
1st50 point
2nd48 points
3rd46 points etc

In the event of a tie, a limbo fly-off will be held.

All points awarded for fixed-wing flying competitions are accumulated to decide the overall winner who will be presented with the Derek Carter trophy.

The club also has a scale competition with classes for fun-fighter and scale, the rules for which can be seen here.



General Rules1 - For fixed wing flying competions, only fixed wing or auto-gyros may be entered.
2 - Competitors must use the same model for all events, except the limbo.
3 - Two judges or one judge and one assistant will be appointed.
4 - Disputes will be settled with an inverted limbo event.

Fixed Wing Fly-For-Fun Rules.
Spot LandingSPOT is where the model first touches the ground.
'A' certs - normal landing.
'B' certs - dead stick.
Upto five points will be deducted for ARRIVALS.

Climb & GlideClimb for 20 seconds, kill engine and glide.
Time is from point of takeoff to touchdown.
'A' certs - No restrictions.
'B' certs - Five points deducted if landing outside of 20M from spot.

Baton RaceCollect baton, take off, two loops, two rolls (any order), land, collect model (a touch is sufficient for large models), return baton.
Runners may be used for senior fliers.

Limbo - OptionalEach pass qualifies pilot for next round at lower hieght.
'A' certs - Two attempts.
'B' certs - One attempt.
Pilots knocked out at same height will receive same points.
When the minimum height has been reached passes will continue, inverted!


Fixed Wing Flyer-of-the-Year Rules.
Aerobatic - A CertsManouvers to be performed in sequence as:
1 - Figure of eight.
2 - Barrel roll.
3 - Two loops.
4 - Immelmann.
5 - Ten foot flypast.

Aerobatic - B CertsManouvers to be performed in sequence as:
1 - Three horizontal rolls.
2 - Three outside loops or bunts.
3 - Three spins.
4 - Cuban Eight.
5 - Four point roll.

Spot LandingSPOT is where the model first touches the ground.
'A' certs - normal landing.
'B' certs - dead stick.
Upto five points will be deducted for ARRIVALS.

Pylon - Timed lapsTime measured over three laps from a running start.
Missed pylons must be repeated.
'A' certs - straight time.
'B' certs - time + 20 seconds.
Course will be triangular, 133x133x75 meters.

Limbo - OptionalEach pass qualifies pilot for next round at lower hieght.
'A' certs - Two attempts.
'B' certs - One attempt.
Pilots knocked out at same height will receive same points.
When the minimum height has been reached passes will continue, inverted!
